PittDES provides structural calculations and engineering review for handrail and guardrail systems on commercial and selected residential projects. The engineering scope may include member sizes, post spacing, base plates, anchors, connections, and supporting conditions for the applicable project-specific loads.
When included in the agreed scope, PittDES can review fabrication drawings and provide signed and sealed calculations for permitting or project submittals. Fabrication dimensions, workmanship, and installation remain the responsibility of the fabricator and contractor except for items specifically included in the engineering scope.
